Handover parade and church service conducted at SHQ for handover of a Squadron OC, Major J a N Chipman, to C Squadron OC, Major P W Bourke. Change of command to occur at 162400hrs. Included in change of command, a change in squadron designation from A Squadron to C Squadron, but no major personnel changes except OCs. Major Chipman to depart SVN on 17 December 1970, after a period of 12 months in command of A Squadron.

Squadron ceased offensive actions, but continued defensive action during the Christmas Truce period. Unit members provided gifts for children of Duc Thanh, Vin Thanh and Ngai Giao, as part of the Christmas spirit.
